Teach Your Baby Sign Language for a Happier Baby

Teach Your Baby Sign LanguageThere are many reasons to learn how to teach your baby sign language, the main one being that at a much younger age you will be able to communicate with them effectively. This communication will mean that your baby won’t get frustrated anymore and that will mean less tantrums. Many of the tantrums you experience may in fact be caused from frustration due to not being able to tell you what he or she needs, but teaching your baby to sign will put an end to that.

You can start small and teach them the words they really need first, like milk, water, food and more and work your way up to more words as they get older. Once your child realizes that they can communicate with you using their hands they will be incredibly excited to learn more and more words. I can remember the great big grin on my sons face when he did his first sign and realized how excited WE were that he did it. Now he says things to us (with his hands) without being prompted and we know exactly what he needs or wants.

Imagine if your child could tell you where something hurts even if they don’t know the vocabulary to do so or the ability to say it. Not to mention the fact that teaching them sign language can actually speed up the process of speech and understanding of what things are. Teaching a baby sign language can only be beneficial to them and as they get older they will be able to communicate with you in so many more ways. Even after they start to talk they will be able to discretely tell you that they have to go to the bathroom, or talk to you from across the room or on the other side of a window, it really does come in handy.

One of the best programs to help you learn and teach your baby how to sign is the Baby Signs program. They have many different tools to teach you, including DVD’s and baby sign language flash cards, everything you need to easily learn how to sign the words yourself (if you don’t already know how) and how to teach them to your baby. You can even potty train your baby using sign language, they have an awesome program for that too.

These programs make it easy to teach your baby sign language and the entire concept is to help you communicate better with your child so that both of you have an easier time. Not being able to speak and tell you wants wrong or what they want can be incredibly frustrating to your baby, it can also be the cause of many unnecessary temper tantrums. You’ll be amazed at the transformation in your relationship when you can talk to your baby and know exactly what they need.
